All aspects of HupKwonDo are geared towards practical self-defence, but we realize that not everyone is interested in the uniforms, belt levels and other more traditional martial arts aspects of HupKwonDo. Because of this we offer the option of attending only our monthly self-defence workshops.

All classes include basic techniques and drills which will benefit you whether or not you are interested in working towards and beyond a black belt.

Monthly Monday self-defence workshops focus on practising releases, escapes, ground techniques and other self-defence applications. Regular weekly classes may also cover these techniques, but add HupKwonDo patterns, free sparring and other elements primarily of interest to the martial art student.

Students interested in pursuing HupKwonDo belts and certification are encouraged to attend both regular weekly classes and monthly self-defence workshops. Students preferring to focus primarily on self-defence can limit their participation to monthly workshops, but are welcome at regular weekly classes as well. Registration is the same in either case. Your personal goals determine when and how often you attend. Only the classes or workshops you actually attend count against your declining balance of pre-paid classes. Additional special training may be available by special arrangement following regular class times.

COST:

While we realize that cost is always a consideration, and even though our fees are generally lower than most commercial schools, we strongly believe that price should never be the determining factor when choosing a martial arts or self-defence training program. You should visit our (or any other) club and take advantage of a trial class, open house or workshop and talk with instructors and students in an effort to determine if it meets your personal objectives and is a good fit for you and/or your child.

Our fees are based on prepaid classes. Only classes you actually attend are counted against your prepaid balance.

The following pre-payment options are available:
  • 5 classes for $30 plus HST = $33.90
  • 10 classes for $50 plus HST = $56.50
  • 20 classes for $80 plus HST = $90.40
  • 40 classes for $150 plus HST = $169.50
  • Single non-prepaid classes: $10.00 plus HST = $11.30

  • There is a 10% bonus for families with 2 or more members training together when prepaying 20 or 40 classes (i.e. each family member gets 22 or 44 classes when paying the regular price for 20 or 40 classes)
All prices above apply to prepaid classes for a single student. Fees are non-transferrable and non-refundable. Prepaid classes cannot be shared or transferred between students.
Fees do not include annual HupKwonDo International membership fees (mandatory for all HupKwonDo students: adults $40, children 16 and under $35), equipment, private or other special lessons or promotion exams. Prepaid class credits expire if a student fails to attend class for 2 full months or more (not including summer break) unless prior special arrangements have been made.

Please note: Regular classes are not held during the months of July and August, but special training opportunities are usually available.
